How to mirror videos on iPhone
Choose the right kind of mirroring: flip the picture left to right, change a saved video, or show your iPhone on another screen.
Can I mirror flip a video on my iPhone?
Yes. A horizontal flip swaps the left and right sides of the picture, like a reflection. It can make a dance lesson or exercise demonstration easier to follow. It also reverses any text in the picture, so check the result before you start practising.
The method depends on where the video is. A clip saved in Photos can be edited. A tutorial playing on a webpage can be mirrored while you watch it in Safari, using MirrorFlip. Casting your screen to a TV is a separate action.
Mirror a video while watching in Safari
MirrorFlip is an iPhone Safari extension with two controls. Flip Video mirrors a video inside the webpage. Flip Page mirrors the whole webpage, including its text and controls. Tap the same control again to restore the normal view.
Install the app, enable its Safari extension and allow it on the website you want to use. Open your video in Safari, choose MirrorFlip from Safari’s page or extensions menu, then choose what to flip. Our setup guide walks through the settings.
Keep the video inside the webpage. The built-in iOS fullscreen video player does not show MirrorFlip’s effect. Website players vary; if an embedded video does not flip, try Flip Page. Read the Safari video-flipping guide for examples.
Flip a saved video in Photos
For a video already in your photo library, open it in Photos, choose Edit, then Crop. Use the Flip control to reflect the picture horizontally and choose Done. The Rotate control turns the picture in 90-degree steps instead. Apple documents both in its Photos editing guide.
Use this route when you want to save an edited clip. MirrorFlip changes the view in Safari; it does not edit, download or export the video file.
How do I turn on screen mirroring?
To show your iPhone display on a compatible TV or Mac, connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network. Open Control Centre, choose Screen Mirroring and select the receiving device. Follow any passcode prompt. See Apple’s AirPlay guide for device requirements and instructions.
AirPlay sends content to another screen. It does not mean the picture has been reflected left to right. MirrorFlip does not provide casting or AirPlay controls, and its Safari effect is not guaranteed to carry over to another player or screen.
How do I turn mirroring off?
- In MirrorFlip: select the active flip control again to return to the normal view.
- For a Photos edit: open the clip’s editing controls and use Revert if you want to undo its edits.
- For AirPlay screen mirroring: open Control Centre, choose Screen Mirroring, then Stop Mirroring.
If your web video still looks unchanged, follow our Safari mirroring troubleshooting guide.
