Video not flipping in Safari? Fixes for iPhone

Work through these checks to find out whether the issue is extension access, the video player or a different kind of mirroring.

1. Check where the video is playing

MirrorFlip works on webpages in Safari. It cannot change a video inside another app, edit a clip in Photos or alter the iPhone’s whole interface. If tapping a link opens a separate video app, return to the website in Safari before trying the extension.

Also check the result you want. A horizontal flip swaps left and right. If you want the screen to rotate or the video to appear on a TV, see our guide to the different kinds of mirroring.

2. MirrorFlip is missing from the Safari menu

Open iPhone Settings, find Safari, then open Extensions and select MirrorFlip. Make sure the extension is enabled. If you use Safari profiles, check the profile you are currently browsing with.

Return to Safari’s page menu beside the address field and check Manage Extensions. The menu may look different on older iOS versions. Follow our setup guide or Apple’s extension instructions.

3. Check access to the current website

An installed extension still needs permission to act on a website. If Safari asks whether to allow MirrorFlip, choose access for the site you are using. You can review website access in the extension’s Safari settings.

After changing access, return to the page and select the flip control again. You do not need to create a MirrorFlip account or sign in to the extension.

4. The flip disappears in fullscreen

The built-in iOS fullscreen video player does not show the mirror effect. It takes playback outside the webpage view that MirrorFlip changes. Close that fullscreen player and keep the video playing within the webpage.

This is a playback limitation, rather than a setting that MirrorFlip can override. Turning your phone sideways does not add mirrored fullscreen playback.

5. An embedded video does not respond

Some players are embedded from another website or display content in a way that limits what a Safari extension can change. Try Flip Page as an alternative to Flip Video. The whole page will reflect, including text and controls, so check the result before continuing.

Try our demonstration page with the same Safari settings. If mirroring works there but not on your chosen site, that suggests a difference in the website’s player. It does not establish compatibility with every video on that site.

6. The page reloads or replaces the video

A website may load a new player when you move between clips. If the view returns to normal, reopen MirrorFlip and apply the flip to the current content. Check the visible result instead of assuming a previous clip’s state still applies.

Is this actually an AirPlay problem?

Questions such as “Why isn’t AirPlay playing videos from Safari?” concern sending video to another device. MirrorFlip does not control AirPlay connections or guarantee that a mirrored Safari view will appear on a TV.

For connection problems, use Apple’s AirPlay troubleshooting guide. For left-right video reflection on your iPhone, return to the Safari flipping guide.
